Global Inflation Trends (2010–2024): A Regional Overview

From 2010 to 2024, inflation rates measured by consumer prices (annual %) reported noticeable variation across global regions. The average global inflation started around 4.2% in 2010, rose to 5.4% in 2011, and then gradually declined to a low of about 2.1% in 2015. A steady but mild increase followed between 2016 and 2018, with rates averaging around 2.5% to 2.8%. Inflation remained relatively stable up to 2020 before rising sharply in 2022, peaking at 7.6%, the highest point in the 15-year period. This surge was followed by a decline to 5.8% in 2023 and further down to approximately 2.9% in 2024. Across regions, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America consistently recorded above-average inflation compared to the global (World) trend, while Europe & Central Asia remained among the lowest.
